We spotted these ceramic sculptures by Mandy Long sometime ago in the window of Castle Galleries, a great little gallery right in the centre of Leeds. The piece that caught our attention was called ‘inspiration’ and intrigued us enough to make us want to find out more.
Mandy’s work is gutsy and strong (works include a focus on footballers, rugby players and more recently dancers) without being over-bearing and we think they capture the human form in all its glory superbly - an incredible accomplishment considering Mandy didn’t turn her hand to her true passion of sculpture until she moved to Leeds in 2000 and enrolled in a 3-Dimensional Design course at Harrogate College.
