You’ve got to have a bit of respect when a city council is brave enough to buck the trend, go against the norm and when providing a necessary functional product, delivers a little bit of art at the same time! The carved stone benches in Albion Place, Leeds always put a smile on our faces whilst we trudge past them on our way to work. They were designed by artist Peter Yarwood and installed as part of Leeds City Council’s re-generation of the street and square. The benches have won numerous awards and we think deservedly so.
Have you noticed any other arty but functional products on your local high street? An unusual litter bin or tree planter for example? If so, please do email us about them or even better send us your own bench designs for us to feature.
