Beyond the System by Rob Sutton

Image (c) Rob Sutton

Here's how CO9Cloud buys paintings and prints... we find an artist we like (galleries or Internet), we browse their work regularly for what can sometimes be years, decide not to be so frivolous, browse again some months later, repeat, repeat and then finally, when feeling a bit flush we may buy one.

However, when we saw this painting, "Beyond the System", by Yorkshire based artist Rob Sutton, we knew we wanted a print of it straight away! It really captures how we're feeling right now and we can't wait to break away far beyond the system (don't worry we're getting there!).

This painting was exhibited as part of the Ferens Open Exhibition in 2010.

At £79 or £109 (2 sizes) for a signed limited edition print, available from the Myton Gallery , we're off now to check our bank balance for some spare pennies!

These blue and white Cola bottles are by Chinese artist Taikkun Li, available via  Pagoda Red .

Taikkun Li's work encompasses design, sculpture, ceramics, film, and photography. After graduating from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, he was granted the only distinguished Full Merit Trustee Scholarship to the MFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

We enjoy alot of window shopping on Pagoda Red's website. Pagoda Red, located in Chicago and Winnetka, specialises in 19th century Chinese furniture and decorative arts for the home and garden. They represent a number of Chinese emerging artists and other Asian inspired contemporary artists.

Blockbusters Wallpaper

As a small homage to the legend that was Bob Holness, who hosted the cult quiz show Blockbusters and sadly died today at the age of 83, we found this gorgeous cotton "Blockbusters" wallpaper by Rosalie Quinlan for Lecien Japan.

CO9Cloud have fond memories of watching Blockbuster's with our grans after school and can still regularly be heard to say, "I'd like a T please Bob".
