Library Chair

Most of us can't quite afford a house with its own dedicated library, so how about this more compact alternative?

The Library Chair or "Bibliochaise" with complementary Bibliopouf was designed by Italian design house Nobody and Co a good few years ago now (2007) but having searched for new alternatives it remains our personal preference for the book chair. It holds some 5 meters of books and the pouf almost 1.4 meters! That's alot of shelf space saved.

Giant Beachcomber by Thomas P Peschak

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011 competition is underway. We thought we'd share with you all our favourite image from the 2010 entrants, the "Giant Beachcomber" by Thomas P Peschak (South Africa/UK).

This is an aldabra giant tortoise which normally grazes on 'tortoise turf', a blend of herbs and grasses that grows close to the ground in response to being cropped. Often, though, the tortoises will wander onto the beaches to eat washed-up seedpods. This female, who is probably at least 100 years old, regularly forages along the beach in front of a research station on Aldabra in the Seychelles. 'Tortoises are known to have made sea crossings between islands,' says Tom, 'and so I was pleased to be able to use the ocean as a backdrop. I lay in her path on the sand, using an extreme wide-angle lens. The moment I took the shot, I had to roll out of her way to avoid her clambering right over me.'

Formula 1 Chair

The guys at CO9 Cloud are lusting after this F1 Lounge chair by Bulgarian designer Alexander Christoff.

This concept design was inspired by the classic F1 racing car and is ergonomically shaped to cradle the contours of the body. Made of fibreglass, with chrome steel legs and an adjustable headrest, we absolutely love it!

John Hancock Cup

In honour of one of CO9 Cloud's very special friend's birthday today, we thought we'd share with you all this "John Hancock" cup.

The cup displays the John Hancock signature and dates to the second half of the 19th century.
